Coach Mitchell - FBS Founder & Head Coach (11U)Coach Mitch has learned many of the lessons he shares with young athletes and youth from over 25 years of leadership experience in Business and Athletics. Coach Mitch founded FBS because he felt strongly that Christian Athletes who aspire to excel and compete in high level competitive sports should be able to do so in an environment where they do not have to compromise their faith, values and beliefs. Coach Mitch is committed to helping young athletes pursue their athletic passion by providing access to high level skills development, training and competition taught in a Faith-Friendly environment.
As a former Pac 12 Collegiate Athlete (University of Washington ) Coach Mitch understands what it takes to compete athletically and achieve success at the highest levels. Coach Mitch enjoys working with young athletes instilling in them the desire to outwork your competition, the importance of sound fundamentals, mental and physical toughness. Since his start in Youth Basketball Coaching, Coach Mitch has taken every team he has coached deep into post season play and has won 4 league Championships. Contrary to some athletes and coaches - Coach Mitch believes athletes ARE role models and should conduct themselves as such - " To whom much is given...much is required!" Coach Mitch's life experiences as a church leader, CEO, collegiate athlete, business advisor, husband and father, have afforded him an abundance of practical wisdom and spiritual insight...that he feels called to share with young people in and out of sports. He is an Author of the book A More Excellent Way - and lets people (Young and Not so Young) know "Excellence doesn't just appear and make someone great... the pursuit of Excellence is a part of one's greatness!" |

Coach Mitch has been fortunate to be apart of successful sports organizations and coaches throughout his athletic career. He played for one of the winningest football teams in NYC high school history (Bayside H.S) which won 4 Consecutive City Championships, where he earned all city honors. After high school he was blessed to play for one of the all time Winningest Coaches in Pac 10 history (Don James) as a University of Washington Husky. Coach Mitch also played junior college basketball - making the team for his agressive defense and rebounding. Coach Mitch made transitioned from football to basketball coaching when his 2 sons began playing competitive basketball. After assisting for several years, Coach Mitch became a head coach 7 years ago. As a head coach, he has taken every team he has coached deep into post season play and has won 4 Championships in various leauges. As a former Pac12 D-Lineman Coach Mitch emphasizes Defense...Defense ...Defense!, attack on offense and sound fundamentals and attention to detail.

Coach Mitch attended the University of Washington as a student athlete and earned a degree in Business Administration. Coach Mitch achieved many levels of success working for a leading Fortune 500 company, before starting the first of several business ventures. After serving as the CEO of an information technology company for eight years and learning many valuable business lessons (some painful). Coach Mitch began mentoring other entrepreneurs and leaders with the Small Business Development Centers and as a private management consultant. Over the years Coach Mitch has worked with hundreds of professional business men and women and youth. Coach Mitch is a dynamic public speaker and a respected leader in his church, business, and home. He is a committed father and husband (married over 27 years) and he & his wife Krista are the blessed parents of two strong and rapidly growing Student Athletes: Jeremiah James Mitchell (Varsity) and Julius "JB" Mitchell (JV & Varsity) .
